Signs & Wonders
04:28
|
|||
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We need the magic that will come from the skies.
We don’t believe a word of the government’s lies.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We’ve danced in your circles; we’ve followed your lights.
We’ve kept the faith through many sleepless nights.
We’re true believers - we know who you are -
You are the gods that come from afar-ah-ah-ah-ah-ha.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We need the magic that will come from the skies.
We don’t believe a word of the government’s lies.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We know about Roswell and Area 51.
We know the shift has only just begun.
We need you to save us, so please communicate
And come in peace before it’s too la-a-a-ate-ah-ha.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We need the magic that will come from the skies.
We don’t believe a word of the government’s lies.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
You might think we’re cranks but we laugh at you doubters.
We’ve seen E.T. and Close Encounters.
It’s all in the Bible and Erick Von Daniken,
So you'd better stop smirking ‘cause soon you’ll be panicking
Ah-ha.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We need the magic that will come from the skies.
We don’t believe a word of the government’s lies.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We want to be chosen we’re stirred and we’re shaken.
Please beam us up, we want to be taken.
We know that you’re out there - it’s statistical truth.
So come on down and land on my roo-oo-oo-oof ah-ha.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs.
We need the magic that will come from the skies.
We don’t believe a word of the government’s lies.
Signs and wonders, wonders and signs
and wonders, wonders and signs and wonders,
wonders and signs...

When Dragons Flew
05:06
|
|||
Once upon a time I sang for you, when I sat upon your bed
But the tide has turned and the past has gone, it’s only living in your head
And once upon a time in days of old, when knights so bold could be
I came along to your rescue, but you tried to rescue me
You put me in chains, I didn’t know it
You blew out my brains, I didn’t show it
Once upon a time, when dragons flew
Once upon a time, when I loved you
We cut into each other deep down to the bone
The blood it flowed like holy wine and loudly we made moan
I tried to make you love me and I guess you did the same
And when that didn’t work well then we played a different game
You put me in chains, I didn’t know it
You blew out my brains, I didn’t show it
Once upon a time, when dragons flew
Once upon a time, when I loved you
You wanted a damsel in distress, so you locked me up in your tower
I was your sleeping princess, and let you take away all my power
But one day I woke up, and saw what you had done
So I broke through all your prison thorns, and I’m still living on the run
Once upon a time I loved you and I thought that you loved me
But you didn’t want me to sing anymore you didn’t want me to be free
We sliced and diced our paradise into bitter tears of hate
And happily ever after was not to be our fate
You put me in chains, I didn’t know it
You blew out my brains, I didn’t show it
Once upon a time, when dragons flew
Once upon a time, when I loved you
But you put me in chains, I didn’t know it
You blew out my brains, I didn’t show it
Once upon a time, when dragons flew
Once upon a time, when I loved you
Once upon a time I sang for you, when I sat upon your bed
But the tide has turned and the past has gone, it’s only living in your head...

Baby Blues
03:32
|
|||
Mon bébé
Mon aimé
Te voilà
Enfin dans mes bras
Dis maman
qui m’aime tant
Remets-moi
Je veux pas rester
Mon p’tit gars
M’en veux pas
Sois sympa
Fais pas ton malin
J’suis paumé
J’suis largué
Pourquoi tu m’as fait naitre
J’ai rien demandé
Ça s’appelle le blues baby
It’s what my baby’s got
Ça s’appelle le blues baby
Y’a pas d’antidote
Pas d'antidote
My baby’s got the baby blues
Trop de lumière trop de bruit
Trop de misère trop d’ennui
9 mois ferme sans sursis
J’y retourne, j’suis pas d’ici
Mon baby
Mon chéri
C’est la vie
Je coupe le cordon
My dear mère
Je galère
Ce calvaire
Laisse-moi m’en aller
Don’t worry
Sois happy
Et puis tant pis
T’es là pour de bon
J’suis perdu
J’suis foutu
J’ai jamais voulu être
Dans ce monde taré
Ça s’appelle le blues baby
It’s what my baby’s got
Ça s’appelle le blues baby
Y’a pas d’antidote
My baby’s got the baby blues
My baby’s got the baby blues
My baby’s got the baby blues

Somebody's Mother
03:52
|
|||
She looks out at the rain, takes another cigarette
She’d like to wash away the pain, she cannot forget
She wanders to the window, to the mirror of night
She wonders why a shadow should seem quite so white...
She lights a cigarette and lets out a breath
Sees smoke pirouette in a slow dance of death
She gazes at photographs fading in a frame
Hears voices and echoed laughs calling her name...
Her children have gone, they don’t want to know
And her husband passed on a lifetime ago
She stubs the cigarette into an ashtray.
She knew they’d forget their mother’s birthday
And there's mist on her glasses. She listens to the rain
Funny how time passes, water down the drain...
She has a one-barred fire. It’s too dear to light
Time to retire - six o' clock at night
She's nothing to live for. She climbs up the stairs
Nothing anymore and she knows no-one cares...
The tears freeze within her. She shivers with the cold
Somebody's mother, alone growing old...

The Jolly Sailor
04:14
|
|||
There was a jolly sailor who sailed upon the sea
He was such a happy chap who loved hilarity
He liked to sing a shanty or two or even three
And dance a merry hornpipe with regularity.
Oh the jolly sailor, oh the salty sea
Oh the jolly sailor - as happy as a man can be
But tho’ he was so jolly he sometimes felt alone
He needed someone else to share his happy home
He set off on a voyage to find a female friend
And finally met the girl of his dreams in a pub called ‘The World’s
End’.
Oh the jolly sailor, oh the salty sea
Oh the jolly sailor - as happy as a man can be
There were storms they had to face
and dawns that sank with no trace
Sometimes they thought they’d never win through
But they always knew their love was true, their love was true
Oh the jolly sailor, oh the salty sea
Oh the jolly sailor - as happy as a man can be
Well he finally met the girl of his dreams and she was jolly too
When he asked if she would marry him she smiled and said, “I do!”
And now they have their own fleet of sailor girls and boys
Who like to dance a hornpipe with all their sailor toys.
Oh the jolly sailor, oh the salty sea
Oh the jolly sailor - as happy as a man can be
Oh the jolly sailor, oh the salty sea
Oh the jolly sailor - as happy as a man can be
As happy as a man can be
As happy as a man can be

Gallows Field
07:00
|
|||
Once I had a young man. He loved me oh so true
He told me there was nothing that for me he wouldn't do.
He said he'd buy a cottage with roses round the door
With a horse and a carriage. I'd never again be poor
He said that I'd have dresses like a lady oh so fine.
He told me I'd have servants to bring me food and wine.
He said we'd have our own seats in the church upon the hill.
With a house full of children who never would grow ill.
Oh he said he was a fisherman, of nothing was he afraid,
But I knew that, like his shipmates, he followed the fair trade.
He asked me to marry him. He went down on one knee.
He gave me a precious ring that sparkled like the sea.
He told me that he'd love me forever and a day,
But I knew that the fair trade would soon take him away.
And then one day the news came that there had been a fight
between my love and his crew and the revenue men at night.
Near the shore they'd been waiting, on the clifftops up above.
They'd slain all his shipmates and taken away my love.
But now he's hanging, oh he's hanging,
My sweet man's hanging in the Gallows Field
She knew they'd been betrayed by his treacherous first mate.
He'd sold his friends down the river for silver coins and hate.
And with the money that they've paid him, he's having a fine wedding.
He doesn't know that with my dead lover's knife that's now where I'm heading.
They say revenge is sweet or so I've been told
and like his wedding feast, a dish best eaten cold.
His bride she screamed in horror as the groom fell at her feet,
And now I know tomorrow the hangman will I meet.
And I'll be hanging, I'll be hanging, beside my sweet man
I'll be hanging in the Gallows Field.
And we’ll be hanging, we'll be hanging,
Together at last in the Gallows Field
Together at last in the Gallows Field...

Roses & Castles
04:42
|
|||
A narrow boat nudges along the canal
Roses and castles drift slowly by.
Engine chugging down below.
Smoke from the funnel hangs on the air.
Once these boats were the blood in our veins
Feeding the cities of England.
They moved to the pull of the rope and the horse
Towpaths echoed to the striking of hooves.
But this speed was too slow for the men who made money
Even when steam replaced horse.
They abandoned the waters for the iron railway
And left the canals to the past.
For one hundred years the boats they lay still
Water-filled dustbins and tombs.
Fair roses faded and proud castles cracked,
Narrow boats beached up like whales.
Locks jammed open, pounds ran dry,
Paddles rusted and timber decayed.
Towpaths crumbled, bridges collapsed,
Arteries hardened in the heart of our land.
And then the railways met the same fate-
Beeching’s axe fell hard and cut deep.
Vital tracks left to ruin and rack
Monstrous motorways hacked through the fields.
Then along came the people with a vision in their hearts
Workers who needed to play.
They rolled up their sleeves and they picked up their spades
And laboured to open the way.
They fought for years against closed minds and laws
To let the waters run free.
And finally the day came when they won back our rights
And the canals were for you and for me.
A narrow boat nudges along the canal.
Smoke from the funnel hangs on the air
Hangs on the air
Hangs on the air...

Happy Endings
04:36
|
|||
I just love happy endings, you can call me a fool.
I love happy endings, when love conquers all.
I love happy endings, when good beats the bad.
I just love happy endings, so spare me the sad.
You can call me sentimental out of touch with the real
But who needs a world in which people can’t feel.
You can harden your heart, you can sneer you can scoff
But into the sunset with my girl I’ll ride off.
Happy endings, help us cope.
Happy endings, give us hope.
Well the poets might be right about what we can’t bear
But life is what you make it, so let’s make it fair.
If we try for the moon, we’ll never aim low,
So let’s set our sights high and see where we go.
And I just love happy endings, you can call me a fool.
I love happy endings, when love conquers all.
I love happy endings, when good beats the bad.
I just love happy endings, so spare me the sad.
Happy endings, help us cope.
Happy endings, give us hope.
Well I’ve lived on the edge, I’ve trod on thin ice
I’ve made my mistakes and I’ve paid the price
You reap what you sow: that old saying is true
And though I’m not a saint, somehow I’ve found you.
And I just love happy endings, you can call me a fool.
I love happy endings, when love conquers all.
I love happy endings, when good beats the bad.
I just love happy endings, so spare me the sad.
And I just love happy endings, you can call me a fool.
I love happy endings, when love conquers all.
I love happy endings, when good beats the bad.
I just love happy endings, so spare me the sad.
